Careysville Fishery on the River Blackwater – one of Ireland’s bestview_of_islands

Careysville Fishery includes 26 named pools it is considered by many to be one of Ireland’s finest salmon fisheries. Wading is excellent and among the numerous streams, pools and glides there is a great variety of fly fishing to suit both the most competent of fly casters and complete novices.

Private fishing in exclusive surroundings

Careysville has been in the ownership of the Duke of Devonshire’s family since the 1930s. The fishery is discretely situated within a 160 acre private estate, half a mile from the nearest road. With its beautiful scenery, warm hospitality and enviable catch records, anglers from near and far return again and again. There are two full time Ghillies on the fishery. They are available to offer help and advice as well as one to one tuition, if required.

When to fish

The Blackwater fishing season runs from 1st February till 30th September. Guests fish Monday to Sunday (7 days) and the number of rods varies between four and five depending on the time of year.
